Tournament Poker Rules

Below you will find the tournament poker rules at the poker player friendly site, Chocolate Poker:

  1. Tournaments start at the exact time specified in the Tournament Lobby or in the tournament description.
  2. Seating will be randomized by the software.
  3. As soon as players take their seats, registration is over.
  4. Cancelling the registration can be done only before the tournament starts.
  5. Before the first hand, the dealer button is determined through a high card draw: each player is dealt one card, and the player with the highest value card wins the dealer button.
  6. After each hand, the dealer button moves clockwise to the next player. There is a chance that a player who hasn’t posted the blinds yet gets the dealer button, due to some players in between being eliminated from the tournament or sitting out. This is a common occurrence in online tournaments due to the system specifications of the poker software. This may happen to any player at any time.
  7. When two players are eliminated at the same time in a hand, the player who had more chips before the hand will finish the tournament higher.
  8. When there are only two players left in play (since all other players have been eliminated), the player with the dealer button is the small blind, and he starts the betting round preflop. On all later streets the player posting the big blind is the one to act first.
  9. The tournament is over when one player has won all the chips. The player with all the chips is the winner of the tournament.
  10. Technical problems like connection errors are something we have to live with when we play poker online. Chocolate Poker does its best to prevent such problems, but it can only take responsibility for errors resulting from malfunction of its own servers. Chocolate Poker is aware of the fact that there is always a chance that some players will have connection errors that they cannot do anything about, so towards the end of tournaments more time is allowed for each player to re-establish connection in case they’re having problems. Cards will be dealt to players who lose connection while on Sit-Out, and they will automatically post blinds and the ante too. Hands of players who fail to re-establish connection within a specified time-limit will be folded.
  11. In case of game-server failure, players will be compensated according to Chocolate Poker’s applicable terms and conditions. Any sort of unethical behavior, e.g. collusion, softplaying, or chipdumping will result in disqualifying of all players involved.
  12. As more and more players are eliminated from the field, players have to be moved around to make sure there is more or less equal number of players at each tournament table. This is being taken care of by the poker software according to a set of rules.
  13. Discussing the current hand, betting options, or any aspect of the game with others, and influencing other players is strictly prohibited.
  14. Prizes will be awarded according to the poker payout structure in our regular and guaranteed poker tournaments. Description can be found in the Tournament Lobby of the tournament.
  15. In order to request a withdrawal, player must earn 3 FPPs for every $1 won on Freeroll’s.
  16. All decisions by Chocolate Poker are final and cannot be changed.
